Public Adjusting

Policyholder representation for complex property claims.

A separate, written engagement for eligible property owners who need professional assistance documenting and presenting a covered claim where Absolute Adjusting is authorized to act.

Public-adjusting inquiries are currently considered for properties in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada and Utah, subject to licensing, conflicts and availability.

Jeffrey S. Aal, A.I.C. handles the firm’s public-adjusting engagements.

The work begins with the record, not a promised result

A public adjuster represents the policyholder in the preparation and presentation of an insurance claim within the authority permitted by the applicable jurisdiction and written contract. The role does not create coverage, remove policy conditions, replace required proof, or guarantee that the carrier will agree with the claimed scope or value.

Absolute Adjusting approaches the engagement by identifying the policyholder, policy, property, cause and date of loss, present claim posture, material deadlines, available documentation, and the work needed to prepare a supportable claim submission.

Services within an accepted engagement may include

Loss documentation

Coordinate inspections, photographs, measurements, estimates, inventories, invoices, reports, and other records needed to describe the claimed loss.

Scope and valuation

Prepare or review repair scopes, Xactimate estimates, contents schedules, additional living expense or business-loss support when included, and claimed values within the agreed scope.

Claim presentation

Organize and present the policyholder’s claimed loss, respond to claim-related requests, reconcile positions, and communicate within the authority of the public-adjusting agreement.

When an initial review may be useful

  • The loss is large, technically complex, or spread across structure, contents, additional expenses, mitigation, and specialty work.
  • The policyholder does not have a complete scope, estimate, inventory, or organized support for the amount being claimed.
  • Carrier and policyholder estimates differ materially and the source of the disagreement is unclear.
  • Important requests, inspections, payments, deadlines, or position changes need to be reconciled into a reliable chronology.
  • The policyholder needs an experienced representative to coordinate the claim work while remaining the decision-maker.

Role, licensing, and legal boundaries

Public adjusting is available only where the individual and entity are properly authorized and the engagement fits the firm’s scope. See the licensing page for recorded license numbers, service territories, and the current-status limitations that apply.

A public adjuster is not the policyholder’s attorney, engineer, hygienist, contractor, accountant, or coverage adjudicator. When a file requires a separate legal or technical opinion, the policyholder may need the appropriate independent professional. Contract terms, fees, services, and responsibilities are established only in the written public-adjusting agreement; no rates are published on this website.
